How is the tip worked out?
It is the bill times the percentage, rounded to the nearest cent. The total is the bill plus the tip.
What does rounding do?
It moves the tip, or the total, to a whole amount, up, down or to the nearest. When the total is rounded, the tip changes to make up the difference.
Why do some people pay a cent more?
When the total does not divide evenly, the leftover cents go one each to some of the people, so the shares always add up to the total exactly.
Which currency does it use?
Any currency with cents or other hundredths. Type the amount without the currency sign.
