Is my XML sent anywhere?
No. It is checked and formatted inside your browser, so private data never leaves your device.
Are comments, CDATA and processing instructions kept?
Yes. Only the spaces and line breaks between tags change. Comments, CDATA sections, processing instructions, namespaces and attributes stay as written.
What does the error message tell me?
It says what is wrong, for example a tag that is never closed, and gives the line and column where it starts.
Does it check my XML against a schema?
No. It checks that the XML is well-formed, not that it matches an XSD or DTD.
Can it handle large files?
Yes. XML over 1 MB is formatted in the background when you press Format XML, so typing stays smooth.
