XOR & Cipher Decoder
Undo XOR with a key, try every single-byte key, or decode ROT-N and Atbash.
How to decode XOR and simple ciphers
- Paste the data and choose whether it is text, hex or Base64.
- Choose a method, and enter the key if you know it.
- Pick the result that reads well, and copy it.
Questions
How does it find a single-byte key?
It tries all 256 keys and ranks each result by how much it reads like English, so the likely key comes first.
What if no key gives readable text?
The data may use a longer key or a different cipher. If you know the key, choose XOR with a key and enter it.
Is my key sent anywhere?
No. Everything happens inside your browser, and keys are never saved.
Which ROT shifts can it do?
Any shift from 1 to 25, and it lists all 25 at once so you can spot the readable one.
