Questions
Why does it download something the first time?
Text recognition needs an engine and a language model, about 7 MB. They download once, the first time you use the tool, and then come from your browser's cache.
How accurate is it?
Clear printed text is read almost word for word. Handwriting, very small text and blurry photos come out less well.
Does it keep the layout?
No. You get plain text, with each image or page as its own paragraph.
Are my files uploaded?
No. The text is recognised inside your browser, and your files never leave your device.
