SVG Optimiser

Make SVG files smaller.

Your files stay on your deviceHow?

Keep them if styles or links point at them.

Without it, the SVG may not scale.

How to optimise an SVG

  1. Choose one or more SVG files.
  2. Choose what to keep, such as IDs or the viewBox, and the number precision.
  3. Press Optimise, then download your SVG or a ZIP.

Questions

Are my SVG files uploaded anywhere?

No. Each SVG is optimised inside your browser, and your files never leave your device.

What does the optimiser remove?

Data that drawing apps save for themselves, comments, hidden and unused parts, default values, extra digits in numbers, and scripts, which could run code when the file is opened. The drawing itself stays the same.

When should I keep IDs?

Keep them when a style sheet or a link points at parts of the SVG by their ID. Otherwise they are shortened or removed.

What does number precision change?

How many digits are kept after the decimal point. Fewer digits make a smaller file; too few can move points slightly in a detailed drawing.

Does it download anything my SVG links to?

No. The SVG is only read as text, so images, fonts and styles it links to are never fetched.
